DENVER (KDVR) -- Families in Colorado, struggling to pay their heating bills, could be seeing relief after Colorado received $54 million to assist low-income families. “No Coloradan should have to worry about keeping their home warm this winter,” U.S. Sen. (KTXL) -- Daniel Serafini, the former Major League Baseball player arrested in connection with the shooting of a Lake Tahoe-area couple in 2021, appeared in court for the first time Tuesday to face the charges against him.Serafini stepped into the courtroom in Placer County, California, wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles. He pleaded not guilty in the shooting death of Robert Spohr and the attempted murder of Spohr’s wife, Wendy Wood. Spohr and Wood were the parents of Serafini's wife. Wood survived the shooting but died several months later. South Florida communities have converged at the Torch of Friendship in downtown Miami for a 48-hour vigil, demanding an immediate ceasefire and an end to what they describe as a genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.Participants in this gathering are also urging the United States to take a stand and call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.Over the course of this two-day event, attendees will solemnly recite the names of those who have tragically lost their lives. An accused criminal’s desperate bid to evade capture unfolded in Miami Shores moments after a chaotic crash on Tuesday night.The chain of events began in Miami Beach with a reported burglary, triggering a rapid response from law enforcement. Foreign nationals are being allowed to leave Gaza via Egypt — the first people to be given permission to exit the Palestinian territory since the war between Israel and Hamas began.A limited number of wounded Palestinian civilians have also entered Egypt through the Rafah crossing to receive medical treatment.The U.K’s foreign office wrote on X: “We understand the crossing will be open for controlled and time-limited periods to allow specific groups of foreign nationals and the seriously wounded to leave.”“It is therefore likely the departure of British nationals from Gaza will take place in stages over the coming days,” it added.A list of foreign passport holders who can leave via the crossing was agreed following a deal between Israel, Egypt and Hamas brokered by Qatar, according to Reuters.It includes people from Austria, Finland, the Czech Republic, Britain, Japan, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Australia and Jordan. Thomson Reuters reports Q3 profit rises to US$367M, revenue edges higher
