All ingredients this Wednesday are coming together to produce a wet and stormy next 24 hours or so across South Florida as an area of low pressure nears Florida from the Gulf of Mexico while a slow-moving warm front lifts north into the area.This will help steer in near-record high atmospheric moisture values, making the setup ripe for heavy rainfall and flooding.Since yesterday, up to 3-7 inches of rain has already fallen and the additional rainfall on top of the wet grounds will only make the situation worse.Fort Lauderdale, as of Tuesday, has now received 101 inches of rainfall, just more than an inch shy of the all-time rainfall record for any given year!A widespread 3-7 inches of rainfall with isolated 10+ inch totals is forecast today into tomorrow across South Florida, so a Flood Watch is in effect for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.Rain will turn more widespread this afternoon and into tonight, which is when the worst of the weather and the heaviest of the rain is expected....

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish road transport authorities were holding talks Wednesday with their Ukrainian counterparts over competition grievances that have led Polish truckers to block two border crossings, resulting in days of delays.Polish truckers say that unregulated activity by rapidly growing Ukrainian transport companies is ruining their business. After Russia’s invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has an increased need for imports and exports.Polish truckers want official permissions to be required of Ukrainian transport firms. Ontario patient ombudsman sees 33% surge in complaints

Ontario’s patient ombudsman says his office has seen a 33 per cent increase in complaints, and noted a “troubling” trend in problems accessing primary care.Craig Thompson, the province’s patient ombudsman, released his office’s annual report Wednesday with its findings.His office received 4,388 complaints over the 2022-23 year, 3,235 of those coming through its call centre and the remainder via written complaints. German publisher to stop selling Putin books by reporter who allegedly accepted money from Russians

Firefighters are battling a three-alarm fire at a home in Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood that has spread to adjacent buildings.Emergency crews were called to a house on River Street, just north of Gerrard Street East, around 6:05 a.m. on Wednesday.Toronto Fire tells CityNews crews encountered the house fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke coming from the second floor. The fire eventually spread to neighbouring homes.Officials say four residents needed to be evacuated from the affected buildings.
